Our five favourite unique wedding venues in Devon!
Being one of the country’s most trusted suppliers of unique wedding entertainment affords us an equally unique opportunity. Over the hundreds of gigs our bands attend each year, we accumulate an insanely extensive array of insider wedding knowledge. By now, Tailored Entertainment acts have played pretty much every great wedding venue in the country - so we’ve got a pretty good handle on the best places to get hitched in the UK!
But this year, we’ve found ourselves falling head over heels in love with one particular area of the country for unique wedding detinations – Devon.
It’s hard to find a UK county quite as varied in its beauty as Devon. You’ve got stunning, sun drenched coastline that comfortably rivals anywhere in Europe. You’ve got the rugged, haunting, rolling hills of Exmoor and Dartmoor. And in Exeter, you have one of the country’s most exciting cities with stunning architecture complimenting a host of modern, contemporary spaces.
And it’s not just the scenery that makes Devon such an attractive location for your wedding. It can cater to a myriad of couples looking for infinitely different things from their wedding days. If you want to be connected and easily accessible, there are countless venues just a stones-throw from Bristol and the M5. Conversely, if you’re drawn to the romanticism of a wedding far from the noise and the crowds, nestled in your own little corner of the countryside – Devon has got you covered.
Our Five Favourite Unique Wedding Venues in Devon
So we thought we’d provide you with a small selection of our favourite unique wedding venues in Devon – handpicked by our most popular wedding bands in Devon – any of which could provide perfect surrounds for your Devon wedding day. Here we go!
Pynes House
Pynes House has to be one of our favourite finds of 2019. This stunning venue was recommended by Devon wedding band One Soul, who had the pleasure of playing there back in the summer. The Grade 2 listed building, set amidst pristine country gardens, was said to be Jane Austin’s inspiration for Barton Hall in ‘Sense & Sensibility’. You’re not just booking a beautiful venue, either – it’s practical and flexible, too. You can make the most of the house’s beautiful architecture with an indoor winter wedding (we featured Pynes House in our blog on best winter wedding venues earlier this year), or you can have the whole day take place out on the lawn in sunlit style.
If you’re looking for a unique wedding venue in Devon, you MUST check this place out!
Glazebrook House Hotel
Far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the fascinating and beautiful Glazebrook House Hotel is a seriously special place to get married. It’s thought provoking interior has been meticulously assembled to give the whole venue a sense of true occasion without being overly stuffy or inaccessible. It’s very easy to feel at home here. What’s more, you can book out the entire of Glazebrook House for your wedding day, encasing you and your guests in your own little wonderland. We can’t recommend it enough!
Reed Hall, Exeter
We love a city-centre wedding, but sometimes finding the right venue can be a troublesome task. It’s often difficult to find a space that is exclusive to you and your guests, somewhere that feels really special whilst still maintaining all the amenities a city centre wedding can offer. Reed Hall in Exeter is one of the few that manages to get the balance right. Located just outside of Exeter city centre, Reed Hall affords you the accessibility of a city venue with all the panoramic beauty and isolation of a countryside manor. It’s also super flexible, catering to wedding parties of pretty much any size. A great find!
Sandy Cove Hotel, Illfracombe
The North Devon Coast contains some off the most jaw-dropping scenery this country has to offer. There’s lots of wedding venues littering its sandy shores, but few manage to be quite as impressive as Sandy Cove Hotel. This tastefully designed contemporary venue has a whole host of wedding day packages, all of which allow you and your guests to make the most of the impressive cliff-top location regardless of the time of year. If you’re after a beach wedding that’s chic, stylish and sumptuously beautiful – this is the spot for you.
Tracey Estate Parkland & Gardens
Last, but certainly not least, is this remarkable estate just outside of Honiton. As unique wedding venues in Devon go, this must be one of the best you’re likely to find. Tracey Estate Parkland & Gardens has been lovingly transformed from stunning parkland into a tastefully constructed, standalone wedding venue. It comes with a fully heated marquee that can comfortably cater to anywhere up to 150 guests and views that take in the rolling hills of East Devon. But the real jewel in the crown of Tracey Estate is the stunning, secret-garden-style outdoor ceremony space that makes it a truly unique place to tie the knot. This is a Devon wedding venue that’s not to be missed.
