How much do professional DJs cost?

For professional DJs for weddings and events, we recommend a base-level starting price of around £600. At this price, you’re ensuring that your DJ comes equipped with the requisite skillset, equipment, and production to perform at any wedding or party venue in the country. Keep in mind that this is a starting price, and some of the DJs you’ll like may cost more than this.

What does the DJ fee include?

As standard, a Tailored Entertainment DJ booking includes...

  • Up to 5 hours of DJ music.
  • Professional sound and lighting production.
  • PAT Testing and PLI Insurance (required by all UK wedding venues).

You also get our 5-star Tailored Entertainment customer service. From your first enquiry right through to the big day itself, you’ll have a dedicated booking agent on hand to answer any questions or arrange any last-minute changes. This kind of peace of mind can make all the difference in the lead-up to your big event!

Lots of our professional DJs for hire also offer live music add-ons in addition to their standard booking. You’ll see these listed under ‘optional extras’ on their profile.

What is a DJ Live act?

A DJ Live act is an awesome hybrid of live music and pro DJs. Your professional party DJ will be accompanied by one or more live musicians, performing alongside the songs that the DJ plays. Live music options include singers, drummers, saxophone players and more. It’s becoming a hugely popular wedding and party booking, seeing as its such a brilliant way to make your event really stand out.

Will my pro DJ travel outside of their location?

Yes! Our professional DJs for hire regularly travel to perform at weddings and parties right across the UK and abroad. If your event is taking place more than two hours (one-way) from a band’s ‘location’, they will ask for an additional fee to cover travel and accommodation costs.

Will my professional wedding DJ play my first dance?

Our DJ’s are more than happy to play your first dance for you.

How do I make a professional DJ booking?

First off, you need to find a DJ that you love. If you want to go ahead and book them, you can make an enquiry through their profile – you’ll be asked to provide your contact details, and then one of our booking team will get in touch with you to chat through the details. If you’d prefer, you can just give us a call on 0800 564 2240 to get the ball rolling!

Are there any extra costs I need to think about when hiring a professional DJ?

The price you see listed on the DJ's profile is our guide price. This is the average amount that it will cost to book the act. However, there are a few things that might affect the final cost of booking your live wedding and party entertainment. For example, travel distance – the DJ’s guide price is based on them travelling anywhere within two hours (one-way) of their ‘location’. If your wedding or event is further away than this, there will be a travel and accommodation budget added to the booking.

There are a few other things that might increase the cost of booking your professional wedding and party DJ. If you would like them to arrive early/stay late then this will incur an extra fee, and if you decide to book any of the act’s ‘optional extras’, these will also incur an extra charge.

For more information on this, give our team a call on 0800 564 2240. We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Do the DJ’s take requests on the night? Or can we pick the songs?

All of our DJs come equipped with a massive catalogue of music. They’d be delighted to take requests on the night, and welcome your input on some favourite songs you’d love to hear.

Can someone help me pick the right DJ?

If you’re struggling to find the right pro DJ Live act for you, we’d be more than happy to help! It’s helpful to think about the kind of music you like to listen to, or the kind of music that gets you and your friends and family dancing at a party, and choose an act that fits with that style. If you’re still not sure, give our expert team a call and we can suggest a few acts you might like based on your preferences, location, and budget.

Will my DJ provide insurance certificates such as Public Liability Insurance and PAT Testing certificates?

In many wedding venues Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and PAT Testing Certificates (documentation that ensures all electrical items are safe) are an essential requirement from bands for weddings. Every one of our DJs carry up-to-date PLI and PAT Testing Certification in line with wedding venues guidelines, meaning when you book a Tailored Entertainment wedding act, you’ve nothing to worry about.

I’m planning a ‘location’ event abroad. Can I still book a Tailored Entertainment professional DJ for hire?

Absolutely! Tailored Entertainment represents some of the UK’s very best international wedding and party DJs. Our acts regularly travel overseas to perform at weddings and parties right across the world. Understandably, the way that international bookings are priced can be quite different to domestic gigs. You can read loads more about this in our Tailored Guide on booking overseas wedding bands, or you can call our expert bookings team for more information.

Will my professional DJ stay late/arrive early?

Yes! A DJ’s standard fee is based on seven hours onsite (5pm arrival, midnight finish). For an additional fee, all our acts are willing to arrive earlier or stay a bit later to suit your wedding day’s schedule.

Can you provide music for our drinks reception or wedding breakfast?

Sure! All our DJs off daytime and evening packages where they can provide background music during your drinks reception and/or dinner.

How early should I book my professional DJ?

The timing has to be right for you, but we’d recommend booking your DJ as early as possible. We represent some of the most in-demand wedding bands in country, and peak summer dates will often book up around a year in advance - sometimes longer. To ensure you get the band you really want, we’d suggest booking as soon as you have your venue sorted.

My wedding venue has a noise limiter. Can I still book my wedding DJ?

The short answer is yes, you can absolutely book the band you want if your venue has a noise limiter. Any professional wedding DJ worth their salt should be able to perform within the restrictions of a sound limiter without you or your guests even noticing. You can read all about what sound limiters are and how they might affect your wedding entertainment in our Tailored Guide on wedding venues with sound limiters.
