How much does a wedding band cost in the UK?

Professional 3 and 4-piece wedding bands start at around £1000-£1250. At this level, you can be confident the band is made up of good quality musicians with the requisite skill set, equipment and production to entertain at a wedding. Keep in mind that this is a starting price and lots of UK wedding bands are going to cost more than this - fees will increase depending on quality, experience, demand and how many musicians there are in the band. Typical payment terms for wedding band bookings are a deposit of around 20% to secure the date, with the balance payable 28 days before the wedding.

What is usually included with a wedding band hire?

As standard, a Tailored Entertainment wedding band booking includes...

  • Professional band with an incredible live show!
  • 2 x 60 minute sets of live music
  • A brilliant set list of guaranteed dance floor fillers
  • Your choice of first dance performed
  • Bespoke DJ playlist for before and after live sets (so your whole evening of entertainment is covered)
  • PA & lighting equipment (premium bands will travel with a sound engineer too)
  • PAT certified equipment and PLI Insurance (required by all UK wedding venues)

You also get our 5-star Tailored Entertainment customer service. From your first enquiry right through to the big day itself, you'll have a dedicated booking agent on hand to answer any questions or arrange any last-minute changes. This kind of peace of mind can make all the difference in the lead-up to your wedding day!

Lots of our bands also offer 'optional extras' for an additional fee. These include services such as afternoon drinks reception add-ons, roaming acoustic sets, live DJ sets, early load-in and late finishes. You'll find all these options listed in the band's profile.

Are there any extra costs I need to think about when hiring a wedding band?

The guide prices on our website show the cost of hiring the band to provide their standard wedding entertainment package at a local venue (within 30 miles of their base location). The price will increase if the band need to travel outside of their local area, as well as if you’d like to add additional services such as afternoon drinks reception sets, a live DJ set for when they’re not performing, or if you need the band to arrive earlier or stay later than their standard booking times.

For more information on this, give our team a call on 0800 564 2240. We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.

How early should I book my wedding band?

The timing has to be right for you, but we’d recommend booking your wedding band as early as possible. We represent some of the most in-demand wedding bands in the UK and peak summer dates will often book up around 12 months in advance - sometimes longer. To ensure you get the band you really want, we’d suggest booking as soon as you have your venue confirmed and have found the right band for you.

Can I pick the music my wedding band performs?

All of the bands on the Tailored Entertainment roster invite you to choose your favourites from their repertoire so they can incorporate these into their tried and tested set list. We don’t recommend trying to write the whole set list for your wedding band as experienced acts have refined what they do to deliver the best party experience for you and your guests.

Our wedding bands also offer to learn one special song request as standard - most people use this for their first dance but you can also just choose a song you love to go into the party sets!

Can we pick the music for the DJ sets?

Absolutely! You can put together a song list or a Spotify playlist and pass this across to the band ahead of the day, we recommend selecting a maximum of 30-40 songs as there won’t be time to play more than that. Many of our wedding bands also offer a live DJ add-on, so you'll have a DJ on hand to select and mix tracks live, as well as take requests.

What different styles of wedding bands can you book?

Tailored Entertainment wedding bands cover all the most popular music styles and eras. We have festival-style wedding bands for rustic barn and tipi weddings, soul & Motown showbands for big, glitzy events, Gatsby-style bands for vintage weddings and indie-rock wedding bands for a raucous finale! For those looking for something a bit different from their wedding band, we’ve got incredible dance anthem bands, 90s pop, pop punk, brilliant RnB bands and much more besides!

Can someone help me find the right wedding band?

If you’re struggling to find the right live wedding entertainment for you, we’d be more than happy to help! Give us a call or drop us an email and our expert team will run through a series of questions that will help guide us to making recommendations that will work for you.

Can my wedding band perform background music at the afternoon drinks reception too?

Absolutely! Most bands on the Tailored Entertainment roster offer afternoon drinks reception add-ons to their standard booking. You’ll find these listed under ‘optional extras’ on the band’s profile.

Alternatively, you could book one of our dedicated drinks reception entertainment options like a saxophonist, singer/guitarist, vocal harmony group or string quartet.

How long do bands play for at weddings?

Most bands will perform 2 x 60 or 3 x 40 minute live sets at your evening reception. The Tailored Entertainment roster of wedding bands will provide a bespoke DJ service before and after live sets, so your whole evening of entertainment is covered. A lot of wedding bands can also provide an additional 60 minute acoustic live lounge-style set as an optional extra, which is great for during drinks or dinner.

Will my wedding band stay late/arrive early if I need them to?

Yes, Tailored Entertainment wedding bands operate on a standard 5pm earliest arrival and midnight latest finish. For an additional fee, all our acts are willing to arrive earlier or stay a bit later to suit your wedding day’s schedule.

Do wedding bands need Public Liability Insurance and PAT certificates?

Yes, this is essential for all professional wedding bands and most venues will not allow bands to perform if they can’t provide certificates. All of our wedding bands carry up-to-date PLI and PAT Testing Certification, meaning when you book a Tailored Entertainment wedding act, you’ve nothing to worry about.

My wedding venue has a noise limiter, can I still book a wedding band?

The short answer is yes, you absolutely can book a great band if your venue has a noise limiter. Most of our professional wedding bands are able to perform within the restrictions of a sound limiter and your experience will be the same as at a venue without one. We have a few bands - mainly the club anthems style, whose music may not be suitable depending on the individual venue restrictions. Please contact us to chat further if your venue has a sound limiter as we'll likely have experience of working at your chosen venue. You can read all about what sound limiters are and how they might affect your wedding entertainment in our Tailored Guide on wedding venues with sound limiters.

Do wedding bands travel outside of their base location?

Yes, our bands regularly travel to perform at weddings right across the UK and abroad. If your wedding is taking place outside of their local area travel costs will be added and if your venue is around two hours or more in travel time, an additional fee to cover Travelodge-style accommodation will also be accounted for in your quote.

I’m planning a ‘location wedding’ abroad. Can I still book a Tailored Entertainment wedding band?

Absolutely! Tailored Entertainment represents some of the UK’s very best international wedding bands. Our acts regularly travel overseas to perform at weddings and parties right across the world. You can read loads more about this in our Tailored Guide on booking overseas wedding bands, or you can call our expert bookings team for more information.
