The ecological impact of your wedding day can be another major stress to add to the list. Weddings can bring with them a potentially dizzying carbon footprint – and it’s something that more and more couples are conscious of when planning their big day. Think about it. You’ve got multiple suppliers’ sourcing food, decorations, flowers and more from across the globe. What’s more, consider the mileage of those suppliers driving to and from your venue, not to mention your own guests…and let’s not even get started on the honeymoon!
As a result, the UK wedding scene as started to see a sharp rise in the number of sustainability conscious wedding venues and suppliers – companies that keep ethical sourcing and carbon-neutral wedding planning at the heart of everything they do without compromising on style or luxury. And there’s one part of the UK where these companies seem to be getting eco wedding planning absolutely, wonderfully right – Wales.

So, for this blog we here at Tailored Entertainment, your favourite suppliers of unique wedding entertainment, thought we’d help you out with your eco wedding venue search. We canvassed our biggest wedding bands in Wales to find their favourite eco friendly wedding venues in Wales, and we came up with this list of five awesome spots that’ll hopefully help reduce those stress levels a little bit!

The Centre for Alternative Technology, Snowdonia
Nestled in the foothills of Snowden is The Centre for Alternative Technology; one of the country’s most progressive charities dedicated to tackling the climate emergency through real, substantive change. Overlooking the sumptuous views of Dulas Valley, the venue itself is a truly stunning example of sustainable architecture in action. It’s 180 capacity venue space and 24 on-site rooms are built with eco-friendly materials and powered via biomass fuels and solar power. The onsite vegetarian café can supply delicious food for you and your guests, and to top it all off – it’s got it’s own funicular! We here at Tailored Towers think that’s by far the coolest part of the whole venue. Address - Llwyngwern Quarry, Pantperthog, Machynlleth SY20 9AZ
Capacity - CAT can cater for up to 100 for the wedding breakfast, bumping up to 180 for the evening reception.
Packages - There are fully catered packages available for those wishing to have food provided by their onsite vegetarian chefs. Alternatively you can book the venue as 'room only'. There's also 24 bedrooms on-site for evening accomodation.
Nantwen, Pembrokeshire
The West Wales coastline remains some of the most unspoilt countryside in the whole of the UK. It’s easy to feel at peace in its picturesque surrounds – miles from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, in your own private paradise. Nantwen in Pemrokeshire is perhaps our favourite eco wedding venues in Wales. This simply designed rural hideaway has an unmistakeable air of high-end exclusivity, yet its prices are surprisingly competitive for such a thoughtfully designed venue. What’s more Nantwen’s eco credentials are unquestionable, having received a gold award from Green Tourism, but at no point does that encroach on this venue’s comfort and style. This is a very special place.

Capacity - This is a beautifully intimate venue, besy suited to small parties. 50pax is the maximum suggested guestlist.
Packages - Nantwen's packages range from 'elopement' packages with up to 8 guests, to 'The Big One' - a fully fledged wedding package for up to 50 guests that can camp onsite.
Penpont, Brecon
Next, we turn our attention to Brecon in mid-Wales, and another recipient of Green Tourism’s Gold Award. Penpont is a privately owned, Grade 1 listed building dating back to the 17th Century. Set amidst 45 acres of woodland, and with the sleepy River Usk flowing slowly through its grounds, Penpont is a truly magical place to tie the knot. Penpont has sustainability at the heart of everything it does: buildings are constructed from sustainable materials and powered via renewable energy sources. Rainwater is harvested, birds and wildlife protected and nurtured. And food is provided from their extensive and incredible organic garden. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it?!

Capacity - The 'stables' space is comfortable for around 80 guests. However, there is the option of erecting tepees or marquees in the grounds, which could potentially increase those numbers.
Packages - Penpont offers a lot of flexibility in it's wedding bookings. The stables is their charming indoor space, plus theres the option of multiple uses for the grounds and gardens should you wish. Penpont is licensed for civil ceremonies, and works closely with some excellent local catering suppliers.
Mydffai Village Hall, Carmarthenshire
Mydffai village hall is one of those rare venues that makes the world feel like a slightly better place for it simply existing. The brand-new space has become a community hub of this pretty village in the foothills of The Black Mountains. Funded, built and staffed by local residents, its operation is sustainability conscious in the most all-encompassing sense. The venue itself is bright, clean and contemporary, and its wedding packages make the most of the bountiful and beautiful resources of the local area whilst taking care maintain them for future generations of Mydffai village. What’s more, there’s a beautiful little church located just across the street that’s perfect for a country wedding ceremony. This is definitely one of the most special eco wedding venues in Wales.

Address - Myddfai Community Hall and Visitor Centre Myddfai, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, SA20 0JD.
Capacity - 120 seated, with the option to extend.
Packages - The venue is entirely run by the communit, and this is reflected in their holistic approach to packaging your wedding day. The venue can help with every element of your wedding day - plus the venue capacity can be extended with the addition of a marquee.
Welsh Green Weddings, Drefelin
Last but certainly not least is another gem out in the rolling hills of west Wales. Welsh Green Weddings is situated on a working organic farm, the owners of which have taken the eco-friendly ethos of their farming business and applied it to this beautiful wedding venue. There’s an impressive array of package options on offer, from big tepee weddings to smaller, more intimate affairs. They also offer an extensive array of accommodation, from the luxurious to the wonderfully kooky. You and your guests can enjoy the comfy surrounds of the eco-friendly farmhouse, or alternatively spend your wedding night in a Romany wagon whilst your guests share beds in a reclaimed double decker bus!

Capacity - Everything from small, intimate groups to parties of 200+. They can also sleep up to 60!
Packages - There's a myriad of options open to you, dependant on budget and the size of your guestlist. 'The Old Dairy' is a beautiful little space for groups of up to 50, whilst the giant tepee offers the option of much larger events.
