Nothing quite gets the party going like a bit of timeless soul and Motown, does it? For us here at Tailored Towers, there really isn’t anything better than a cracking soul and Motown party band. They’ve been a trusted source for great wedding entertainment ever since Motown’s heyday in the 1960s, and for good reason.
However, it’s fair to say the classic soul and Motown wedding band took a bit of a dip in popularity over the last few years. For better or worse, soul and Motown became synonymous with function bands at their absolute cheesiest (think Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer).
Subsequently, wedding trends moved elsewhere, towards the ever-popular festival-style party bands and indie rock wedding bands. Corporate Entertainment got bigger and more contemporary, with acts like the incredible LFX and their dance anthems inspired live show.
But now, we’re delighted to say that soul & Motown wedding bands are undergoing a huge renaissance. Bookings for these incredible bands are off the charts right now, and there’s a few pretty compelling reasons for this being the case.

We’re off to an absolute flyer with our first band on the list. London party band Soul Supreme embrace everything that is great about the classic Motown sound, whilst bringing it crashing into the 21st century. This remarkable live band is fronted by two stunning lead vocalists, and even offers a stripped back live lounge set to accompany the standard booking.
Soho Collective are doing something totally unique with the classic soul showband. Their live show is absolutely second to none, with the flexibility to offer anything from a modest six-piece band, all the way up to an 11-person live music spectacle! We really, really, really love this band.
Leicester wedding band Johnny & The Goodtime Boys are fresh, funky and tonnes of fun. They bring all the timeless style and incredible musicianship of music’s very best genre, whilst managing not to take it too seriously in the process. These guys are a great booking for corporate gala dinners and awards ceremonies.
We’ll finish with one of the UK’s biggest soul function bands, OJ’s. OJ’s Soul Band is the brain child of professional musical director James Birt, and through his leadership they have cultivated a reputation for providing one of the best nights of live function entertainment in the country.
