Our quirky, off-the-wall wedding tips!
Happy almost-August, folks!
You may have spotted a video doing the rounds on social media this week, of an American couple that hired a tattoo artist to attend their wedding! This rockabilly couple booked The Wedding Tattooist to pitch up at their wedding and invited all guests to get inked up - even the grandparents!
And it seems that the trend is making it's way across the pond, with The Daily Mail reporting on the rise in matching wedding day tattoos!
Although this option might not be for everyone, it got us thinking about our favourite quirky wedding trends. If you consider yourself an alternative couple that likes to do things little differently, this blog may give you a little food for thought! Let's get cracking shall we?
The Venue.
If you're desperate to step away from your standard, ten-a-penny wedding venue and look for something a little edgier, there's a wealth of amazing options out there for you. Unconventional wedding venues can really make your big day something to remember; not to mention the fact that they tend to be significantly less pricey than traditional, purpose built wedding settings.
One of our favourites of late is the stunning Earl Of Doncaster Hotel in South Yorkshire. A firm favourite with many of our Yorkshire Wedding Bands, this beautiful 20's art-deco building is positively dripping in style. It's glamorous, avant-garde ballroom is the perfect place to hold a wedding with a difference.
The Band.
With a venue like that, you need need incredible wedding entertainment to match, right? Well how about The London Belles, one of the hottest wedding bands Manchester and the north west has to offer. This stunning Andrews Sisters style vocal trio are the perfect tonic to your standard function-band fare. Their impeccable close harmony singing is brought to bear upon a glittering set list of 40's wartime hits and swinging, boogie woogie Rock & Roll classics.
The Booze.
There's so many incredible options for pop up drinks bars available these days that it's difficult to know where to start. The gin bar has been the big hit of 2017, but how about something with a bit more wow-factor?
Big Red Bus Bars were spotted at a recent wedding by one of our Midlands Wedding Bands, Stanley Park. Their vintage Routemaster bus converts into a fully functioning cocktail bar, offering locally sourced beers, wines and signature spirits with a difference.
The Food.
The street food revolution that has been gripping Britain for some time finally made its way to weddings this summer, and boy are we glad it did! Tired of the traditional chicken-in-a-mushroom-sauce wedding breakfast, couples are embracing the idea of doing something genuinely unique with their wedding food.
One of our Birmingham wedding bands recently introduced us to a caterer that's fast becoming our favourite. 63 Islands are a street food caterer offering vibrant, authentic Caribbean cuisine inspired by the diverse cultures that make up the tropical archipelago. 63 Islands take influences from France, Spain, India and The Netherlands, all coming together in some remarkable dishes that are unequivocally Caribbean - its fresh, delicious and guaranteed to get all your guests talking.
So there you have it! We hope that's opened up a few new possibilities for your quirky, alternative wedding planning!
